  • Start-Up Visa Program

    Purpose: To attract innovative entrepreneurs who want to start a new business in Canada that can compete globally and create jobs for Canadians.

    Key Requirements
    • 1. Business Idea & Support
      • You must have a business idea supported by a designated organization approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
      • Designated organizations include:
      • Venture capital funds
      • Angel investor groups
      • Business incubators
    • 2. Ownership Requirements
      • Up to 5 people can apply as owners of a single business.
      • Each applicant must hold at least 10% of the voting rights in the business.
      • Together, the applicants and the designated organization must own more than 50% of the voting rights.
    • 3.Language Proficiency
      • You must meet minimum language requirements in English or French (CLB 5 in speaking, reading, writing, and listening).
    • 4. Settlement Funds
      • You must show you have enough money to support yourself and your family after you arrive in Canada. The amount varies by family size (e.g., about CAD 13,000 for a single person).

      • Getting accepted and securing commitment (investment or acceptance into an incubator).
    • 2. Prepare your application with:

    Who is Eligible?
    • Cultural Activities: Artists, musicians, writers, performers, or other cultural professionals with relevant experience.
    • Athletics: Athletes, coaches, or officials with a history of participation at a competitive level.
    • Farm Management: Individuals with experience managing a farm (available only in some provincial streams, but part of federal program too).
    Key Eligibility Criteria
    • 1. Relevant Experience
      • You must have at least 2 years of experience in cultural activities or athletics, either as self-employed or participating at a high level.
    • 2. Intention and Ability
      • You must intend and be able to become self-employed in Canada in the cultural or athletic field.
      • This means creating your own employment and contributing significantly to the cultural or athletic life of Canada.
    • 3. Selection Factors

      Candidates are assessed based on:

      • Language ability (English/French)

    • 4. Medical and Security Checks
      • Applicants must pass medical exams and security background checks.
    Application Process
